Photo Assignment: Fragmentation & Intersection

In my Introduction to Photography course (COMM 160), students are challenged to push the boundaries of traditional photography through 2 assignments that explores image composite. These project encourage students to rethink the very nature of a photograph while reinforcing fundamental skills in composition and design.

Focal Length determines several visual factors in photograph. Student are challenged to make two images that create a new narrative when combined. No Photoshop or editing is allowed, this makes students rely on a grid system so images align and intersect within a frame. This assignment challenges technical skill and creative problem solving. Did it take you a minute to realize what you were looking at?
